News You Won’t See from the HOA or Rec Board

This is obviously not the official website of ROHA or OLRA

HAVE YOU SEEN THE PATHETIC
HOLIDAY  DISPLAY AT THE MAIN ENTRY TO THE SUBDIVISION?

IF SO, I ASSUME YOU WERE AS EMBARRASSED AS I WAS:

It’s a sad, sad day when all other subdivisions in the area, including ones that are far less “prestigious” as ours is supposed to be, outdid us with their holiday decorations. But, they certainly did.

Gone are the days when we were all proud of seeing the beautiful job that Jack Helfrich did each year with the decorations that he not only volunteered to assemble and install, but typically funded them himself as well. The ROHA Board, headed by the almighty Mr. Rick Lord, had continued with their non-stop harassing, threatening, and badgering of Jack for so many years that he has given up and walked away from trying to make the subdivision a better place to live and to be proud of.

We sincerely thank Jack for his many tireless years of caring and for all of his massive efforts. The place definitely hasn’t looked as good since his involvement…

The fact that the Common Grounds position on the ROHA Board has been vacant since 2016 is a clear indication of the importance (or lack thereof) that Mr. Lord puts on the once-pristine common grounds of the subdivision. And the fact that each year dozens and dozens of trees on the common grounds are cut down or removed, and none of them have been replaced since Jack saw to it himself to replace them, quite a few years ago… if this complete lack of caring continues, we will soon have very few, if any, living trees left here.

So now, not only has Mr. Lord’s years of un-ending propaganda and outright lies become the norm, and are no longer questioned by anyone, but his obvious lack of caring or concern regarding the upkeep and quality of the subdivisions common grounds and amenities is resulting in it slowly taking a large step backward versus previous years. We can only hope that he is gone soon from the Remington Oaks Homeowners Association, and someone that genuinely cares steps up and takes his place. His time has come and gone - he has done enough damage. We can only hope…

Happy 2024. Fingers crossed.

APRIL 2019

RICK LORD’S LIES CONTINUE TO BUILD

Mr. Lord, current President (and self-appointed/acting Secretary) of the Remington Oaks Homeowners’ Association (ROHA) continues to tell outright lies to subdivision residents.

TRANSPARENCY?:

Per the 2018 Year End Letter included in the Remington Oaks Residents’ Assessment and Election Ballot Mailing, the very first area that was and continues to be addressed in 2018 was “Transparency.” Mr. Lord stated that “the HOA has all financial invoices, payments and any other financial matters posted on the HOA website (www.remingtonoaks.org) where all members can review…” Yet there isn't a single invoice, payment or financial document posted. It was then stated during the recent March ROHA Meeting that all 2018 financials would be uploaded the following week. Another outright lie. And why bother a year and a half later.

Mr. Lord also continues to refuse to share any details of the assumed subdivision Insurance coverage with residents who have repeatedly requested it. And, residents are no longer allowed to attend most ROHA Board Meetings - even when general subdivision business is being discussed. All committees have also been dissolved without reason, to eliminate the possibility of any resident gaining any insight into the Board’s dealings. And, residents who volunteer their services are treated like criminals.

ANNUAL ELECTION PROCESS:

President Lord also recently decided to change how the Annual Election of Trustees for ROHA is handled, contrary to what is specified in our legally binding Indentures. The recent Annual Election of Trustees Meeting on March 11 turned out to be anything but. There was no Election Chairman nor Secretary elected to certify election night results (as dictated in our Indentures), nor where they even mentioned. Not a single resident’s vote was opened nor counted, acknowledged or recorded at the meeting. Yet Mr. Lord was quick to announce that he had somehow been re-elected to another three year term - without an Election Meeting.

The next scheduled open ROHA Meeting is scheduled for June 10th, @ 6:30pm at the Clubhouse. You might consider attending if you have any questions or suggestions for the “elected” Trustees.

WINTER LAWN TIP

DON'T FERTILIZE TOO EARLY!

During the winter months, grass is likely dormant if you haven’t been irrigating. When you fertilize too early in spring —meaning it’s still winter — you’re providing nutrients before the grass has broken dormancy. It won’t be able to immediately take advantage of the nutrients you provided.

A good rule of thumb to determine when it’s time to fertilize in spring is to wait until daytime temps are consistently in the 70s.

WHAT ARE SUBDIVISION
INDENTURES?

According to the St. Louis County Subdivision Trustee Resource Center:

SUBDIVISION INDENTURES are written agreements that restrict or limit property used or activities in a subdivision. Indentures also detail the rules and procedures under which the subdivision will operate. These regulations and restrictions appear in the deed records and are private contracts between a property buyer and a property seller. INDENTURES ARE LEGALLY BINDING DOCUMENTS, recognized by the state of Missouri and recorded with the St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds.
